The TEDS Report - -Female Substance Abuse Treatment Admissions Aged 12 to 17
Highlights: In 2007, adolescent female admissions comprised less than one third (30 percent) of the nearly 132,000 substance abuse treatment admissions aged 12 to 17. For these admissions, marijuana and alcohol accounted for 80 percent of all primary substances of abuse. 60 percent of adolescent female admissions reported first using their primary substances of abuse between the ages of 12 and 14. Other OAS publications and services The TEDS Report -Female Substance Abuse Treatment Admissions Aged 12 to 17, is based on SAMHSA's Drug and Alcohol Services Information System (DASIS) conducted by SAMHSA's Office of Applied Studies (OAS) in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health is the primary source of information on the prevalence, patterns, and consequences of drug and alcohol use and abuse in the general U.S. civilian non institutionalized population, age 12 and older. SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use & Health also provides estimates for drug use by State. |
